My Christmas tree lights won’t work!!!

We finally had to break down and buy a new Christmas tree, pre-lit of course. We’ve been using the same tree for a long time. The first year we got it we left it on until June. All the lights burned out. That means I had to string the lights on the tree, which I really hate doing. Lesson learned. I can’t spend a great deal of time on this blog because the real tree that we bought five years ago is beginning to look a lot like the Christmas tree on Christmas vacation after the fire. I think I need to get rid of it.

I’m not sure why we decided to leave the tree up until June. After a while it became somewhat of a game. We would wait to see which section burned out first, and second and finally The third, at which time I put it away. The real reason for me was I love Christmas!

Christmas is not about presents, and I know most of you feel the same way. The older we get the shorter gift list becomes because we realize the things we really want don’t cost money. Aw, who am I kidding? I read that a few days ago and I’m not sure I agree. I still love to give presents and I must admit that I do enjoy opening a gift or two from my wife. Yep, I see nothing wrong with having both. Loving family time, remembering the reason that we celebrate Christmas and oh, giving presents to the grandkids, to my wife and a lump of coal to my neighbor, Dennis. I really should get going it looks like one of the strands of lights has already bit the dust.

  1. Three years ago we thought….’Ooooh a live tree in a tub…how nice’ and bought it home. Then when Christmas was over we put it outside in its tub…..and it grew…..and required a new tub.
Getting the tree indoors this year required a certain tactical approach, it does look very nice now it’s settled …..then I’ll have to get it out again….
    We do like Christmas though.
