I saw my therapist a few days ago. She scolded me for missing my last two appointments because my condition is serious. I said, “I know, but I was just doing what you told me.” She said, “I haven’t told you to skip appointments!” I said,”No, but you told me to avoid people who irritate me.”
The drama that certain people ‘share’ with friends and family can really be detrimental to you. Not real crises, but drama that involves silly things that really don’t matter. Once you allow yourself to get sucked in, your life becomes crazy. We probably all know people like that.
Somehow these people are not happy unless there is someone to hate or complain about. It’s like watching ‘The View’ every day but it lasts all day long. I can’t even watch that show for an hour a month. If I robbed, let’s say an Etsy store (I don’t even know what that stuff is) and the judge ordered me to watch that insane show every day, I would beg for the death penalty.
I avoid all shows where the format is angry debate. I also never debate politics with anyone. It stresses me out and I’m much more likely to have a seizure. In fact, it’s nearly a given. It’s just not worth it. I would rather hit myself in the head with a hammer repeatedly. Life can be so wonderful without constant stress. Let’s be kind to ourselves by eliminating relationships and events that cause stress.
