I Refuse To Take Them!!!

On Easter this year Heather and I were reminiscing about years past when we colored and hid eggs around the yard for the kids. Then she said, “Don’t worry, Jerry. We can hide our pills this year instead.”

I remember my Mom and Dad taking lots of meds and vitamins at night as they were getting older. It seemed like the older they got, the more they were taking. I remember thinking, “I’m sure glad that I don’t have to do that.” I know! Now I take seven different meds every night. Heather has quite a few as well.

How did this happen? I want answers! I didn’t sign up for this and yet, here I am. I’m certainly not in this alone. I’m sure that you take your fare share too. Where would we be without them? I have friends who won’t even try medicine manufactured by man. Only holistic health foods and oils. If it works for them, I’m happy. They tend to be a little over zealous about it though. There’s no way I’ll ever chew on a rhubarb root to try to get better.

The crazy thing to me is the number of people who are mentally ill and refuse to take their medicine. I guess they prefer to do things like talk to themselves in public like Steve Martin in ‘All of Me’. That’s a very funny movie. But it’s a MOVIE! You can’t get away with that stuff in real life. You’d be locked up faster than a speeding bullet.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to find the pills that we didn’t find on Easter. I’m feeling a little woozy.

  1. There was a funny scene on the new Roseanne show and she and Dan were trading their pills like a game. I’m not of the pill age yet, but I’ll probably go the more holistic route myself. Try to anyway. We all say, “we’ll never…” then we wind up the opposite.

      1. Me too! I understand some illnesses need more than holistic treatment and you have to be careful with that too. I see my mom take a bunch of pills and It’s tough. Mainly for all the side effects.
