For me, consciousness is the irritating time between my naps.
I love naps. Seriously, if I could sleep all day, I would have no problem with that at all. Sure, many might call me lazy but I don’t care. I read something once that really helped me; “What someone else thinks of you is none of your business.” Isn’t that awesome?
I don’t worry whether someone is not talking to me, except if it’s Heather, of course. You can’t have your wife giving you the silent treatment very long or its going to be a very rough period of time. Happy wife, happy life. I think we all know that one. But if a friend or family member stops communication, I’ll inquire about it to be sure they are in good health. If they are, I will not be bothered by their silence or what they might be telling others about me.
That’s called drama and I neither want or need it in my life at all. Instead, I will focus on people who really care. So much nicer and incredibly satisfying. Much less stress. It makes no sense to be fretting about things that I cannot control. Like the stinking rotten Miami Dolphins!! They’ve been my favorite team since I was a kid and they can’t put together a winning team!! I’m so… Ahem… I guess I still have some work to do.
That’s why God invented therapists. I’m not sure mine would want to spend much time on my frustration with my favorite football team, but for the other irrational concerns, I spill my guts (gross terminology) out to her and take her advice between sessions. Now, I’m going to take a nap and I don’t care what you think about it!
