I watched an interview with the spokesperson for a group who is calling out Starbucks for being racist and sexist. I know! The reason? They have coffee shops in Trump properties. Insane.
It seems like everyone has an axe to grind in today’s world. I don’t. I don’t even own an axe. Or a grinder. I’m not even sure what that means but it has something to do with anger and protests. I’m only upset about violent protests, which have been happening a lot before and after the election.
Who’s to blame? It depends on who you ask. If you ask conservatives, many of them will blame liberals for protests/riots and the existence of groups like Antifa. If you ask liberals, many of them will just say Trump, which, as an independent I think is unfair.
There are so many explosive and sensitive issues to be dealt with. Someone was going to have to deal with illegal aliens, and there is no good solution. I know some prefer the term undocumented but that is illegal so I prefer illegal aliens. This is a huge mess that no one has been able to tackle and now there is no way to deal with it without innocent people being caught in the middle. That’s sad.
I think that we should build a wall as many other countries have successfully done, giving the millions of illegal aliens already here a generous time frame and resources to become citizens and learn English. Those that don’t comply should then be deported. I saw an interview with a man who has been here since he was nine years old. He is a spokesperson for illegal immigrants and yet he is still not a US citizen.
I think our country should always welcome immigrants who enter the country legally. Other countries don’t simply allow people to come and mix with citizens and then claim that everyone who enters will have the same basic rights as citizens. That’s crazy, in my opinion. I’ve had good friends who came here illegally but worked hard to become citizens and learn English. I admire them. I don’t admire those that won’t even try.
I’ll get off of my soapbox now and just in time because I don’t know if you’re aware of this but they really do not hold much weight. I really hope that everyone will stop playing the blame game (there is now a home version) and understand that we have a President who won the election. If there were illegal elements that caused the conclusion, let the investigations that are ongoing make that determination.
Let’s tackle the most important issues together. The political landscape is so hazy due to the rhetoric from all sides that our nation is being hurt. This unrest is just a scary reminder to me. “United we stand, divided we fall.”
I’m now going to get my favorite fall drink. A pumpkin spice latte.
