My wife told our doctor I was snoring. Here said “There’s sugery that will help. It’s $1000 down, and then payments of $450 for 24 months”. “Wow!” My wife said, “sounds like leasing a new sports car!” “Hmmm,” the doctor said, “too obvious, huh?”
I ended up with a CPAP machine, which is an acronym for “continuous positive airway pressure”. Problem solved. No more snoring. The bad news is that that I have to wear a mask every night and sleep on my back. Its great for Heather, but its hard to sleep all night wearing the mask.
I have the nose piece that only covers the nose. It sends lots of moist air into the nose so there’s no reason to breathe through the mouth, when I start snoring. I wear the mask because I love my wife and I want her to get a great nights sleep before going to work the next day.
The problem is the machine causes me to wake up often, some times once every hour. Ugh. I don’t wake up refreshed, as the machine presents itself. I usually use headphones too, but not iPhone headphones because they make to much noise for Heather so I use larger head phones that completely cover each ear. What a sight.
In going to keep using the machine. Perhaps it just takes a while to get used to it. I hope so. I’m willing to try as long as it takes to get used to sleeping on my back and make the mask feel normal. It will be a good thing for us both in the long run. Right now I feel like Hannible Lektor. I’ve been promised it will get easier. We’ll see.
