The last time I was in the hospital my wife told me that one of our dogs “Spends the night at the front door, waiting for you”. I said, “I wonder if you’d be that concerned about me?” She said, “Honey, if you were gone overnight, and I didn’t know where you were, you can bet I’d be waiting for you at the front door.”
I have never spent the night away from home without good reason, and I always tell the appropriate person of my whereabouts. When I was single and living on my own there was no appropriate person to call.
I can’t imagine what Heather would do. I would hope it would be the silent treatment but I’m sure she would get even with me instead. We have taken separate trips before. I went to northern California to relieve pressure and Heather spent a few days in southern Utah.
We each returned refreshed and recharged to tackle life. It was a great idea and one we’ll probably do again. The last time I went to a gig overnight I forgot to call her. We always pray together before we go to sleep. She called me and man she let me have it. I don’t blame her one bit. Time just got away from me.
So now I walk the straight and narrow because I love her with all of my heart and I’m also scared to death of her. It’s in my best interest to call every night.
