I’m old. The other day I was walking past a cemetery and three guys started chasing me with shovels! ~Rodney Dangerfield
I realize I can’t turn the clock back. Well actually I could turn back every clock I own, but it wouldn’t reverse time. I know, all I need to do is learn to fly like Superman and fly so fast around the earth and reverse time!
In my younger crazy days, people told me that I was living too fast. I was running against the wind and I didn’t care because I told them all that I wouldn’t live to be 40 anyway. I packed as much experience as possible in those 40 years. Imagine my surprise when I woke up one morning and it was my 41st birthday! I know!
I was stunned. I was certain that at the very least I’d be taken out by a comet or something. Maybe hit by a bus or a train. There was a song I used to listen to where the artist sang, “I want to live fast, love hard, die young and leave a beautiful memory”. That became my mantra.
But God had something else in mind. 60? Really? Then again, I have a lot to live for. My loving wife, three awesome children and seven wonderful grandchildren. I want to see them grow up. Well except for my wife. She’s fully grown. I must admit that I have been blessed with so many.
