Seagulls are wonderful but I think if I had to choose, I would choose bagels because I’ve never heard of “A Seagull and a schmear” and I love cream cheese for breakfast. Plus there’s no such thing as Asiago Seagulls.
I love bagels. Toasted and loaded with cream cheese. I don’t mean those wanna be bagels in plastic in the bread aisle at the grocery store. I’m talking about the real deal. In the deli section of a Supermarket where they are delivered fresh every morning.
Plain, Asiago, Onion, whatever. There are small bagel shops in most towns where you can relax and enjoy your favorite bagel with coffee or whatever your favorite beverage might be. Except for hard liquor. I really don’t think that would be a good combination.
Scotch and bagels? Bagels and beer? I don’t think so. Besides, I’m sort of a purest. For me, coffee is the best choice to pair with bagels. And both must be very fresh. Have you ever tried eating a day old bagel that wasn’t properly stored? If you’re lucky, you won’t lose a tooth.
Now I’m really feeling hungry. I know that I’m not because we just had breakfast an hour ago. It’s just my brain thinking about the wonderful food. I’ll never be able to talk Heather into going out to get some, either. Two problems with that plan. First, she’ll think I’m insulting her cooking and secondly, lox and bagels are not cheap. She would never see the logic in paying $12 for a second breakfast.
