I went to see my psychiatrist because I was feeling kind of down. She asked me a few questions, took some notes then sat thinking in silence for a few minutes and said, “Um, I think your problem is low self-esteem. It is very common among losers.” I see a psychiatrist regularly. A psychiatrist is the only one who can dispense the prescriptions that I need, so I have to see one. She also evaluates progress to determine if doses need to change or be switched to a different medicine.
I don’t like taking medicine in the first place, so what I do take needs to make a difference. My former psychiatrists, when I told them the medications weren’t making a difference, would ask me, “Have you taken ****?” No.” this line of questioning would go on through a huge list of medications and I would always walk out using the same meds as I did before going. It was very frustrating.
