“I give you the Griswold family Christmas tree!” Classic Chevy Chase line just before the tree bursts forth in every direction, breaking windows and swallowing him.
I love that movie. I think it’s my favorite Christmas movie. Every scene is hilarious and the characters are all pretty much crazy. From the moment family arrives, the craziness ensues. From grumpy Art to the insane cousin Eddie.
I guess the kids are ok and Ellen is pretty much down to earth. Clark’s parents appear to be sane until you realize they are encouraging him to completely cover the whole house with 25,000 Christmas lights.
And who could possibly forget the famous scene where Clark cuts the turkey? It never gets old to me, even though I know exactly what is going to happen. In fact, the whole dinner scene is really funny. From Aunt Bethany’s pledge of allegiance to eating the cat food filled jello, it makes me laugh every single time.
I’ve already watched it three times this year and it’s only December 13th! I know I’ll watch it many more times over the next couple of weeks, if for no other reason than to watch Eddie empty the waste tank on his RV into the storm drain.
I also like “A Christmas Story”, “Elf”, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”, “Home Alone”, “Die Hard” and more, but there’s no comparison in my opinion than Christmas Vacation. In fact, I think I’ll watch it now.
