Three men were at a bar. One said, “My wife was reading a ‘Tale of Two Cities’ and she gave birth to twins!” “That’s funny,” another man said, “My wife was reading ‘The Three Musketeers’ and she gave birth to triplets!” The third man shouted, “I have to get home! “When I left, my wife was reading Ali baba and the forty Thieves!!!”
Kids are the most wonderful things ever. Grandkids are also pure joy. In most cases, mine included, I couldn’t be more happy with any of them. My daughter, Sarah and her family of 5 live in Georgia. My son, Eric lives with his family of 6 in Mississippi. My other daughter, Cecilee lives in Washington state.
They are all unique. Sarah loves being a stay at home Mom, and she’s a very good wife and Mother and her husband, Steve is a great son-in-law. Eric is a pastor and loves it. His wife, Lesley is a great wife, mother and daughter-in-law. Cecilee is a free spirit, who lives her own unique life, not really caring if anyone disapproves. She has two adorable ferrets.
It was really fun watching Sarah and Eric grow into the people they’ve become. They’re each so different and watching the family dynamics in each household is so much fun, in that they are happy families.
It’s a very long story, but I let Cecilee’s step father, a really good guy, adopt her when she was six, something I will always regret. We have a friendly Facebook relationship, but I’ll take it. She’s a comedy and improv entertainer and an amazing artist.
And then there are the grandkids. Katie, Boaz, Abby, Isaac, Titus, Logan and Elizabeth. I wish we could see them more. We’re saving money for our next visit and making plans to move there one day. I know that Eric wants an even larger family and Sarah kind of goes back and forth on the notion.
I don’t know how they do it already. That’s a great deal of work. Soon, they’ll all have activities like soccer, dance recitals, etc., and the parents will be running around even more. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to have more grandkids, but I wouldn’t want them to wear themselves out in the process.
Eventually, we will have a huge family, and I can barely wait! We are truly blessed with our current family.
See you tomorrow.
