Last night, I dreamed that I took all of our money, and bet it on the Tigers. Wow, I was so happy to wake up … wait a minute. I just checked our accounts! No dream! I need to get out of here, before she wakes up!
Sadly, that is all too real for so many. I joke about it, because that’s how many comedians express themselves. For example, Rodney Dangerfield said “I called gamblers anonymous. They gave me 2 – 1 I don’t make it.” Funny.
I know a guy who has blown every dime he’s had, for at least 40 years. At least he never married, so there was no pain for more children.
I don’t like casinos. People change in them. Not everyone, of course, but most. The greed is overwhelming. It’s evil. To quote the most read book, ever, “The love of money is the root of all evil.” I believe it.
As for betting on sports, I know one person who will never do it. When I talk sports with my eldest daughter, Sarah, she politely listens, then says “Daddy, you forget. Sports doesn’t exist in my world.”
